Alexander the Great dies in Babylon
After his great campaign Alexander the Great dies in Babylon. Originally from Macedonia, Alexander the Great was born in 356 BC in Pella, which is the capital of Macedonia. As a child, Alexander watched his father expand the empire of Macedonia and make it into a great military power. Once, his father King Philip the II brought home a great stallion horse. His father was unable to ride the horse, but Alexander showed great skills and claimed the horse as his own, naming him Bucephalus. Soon after King Philip the II conquered Greece, he got assassinated, thus leaving his son Alexander the Great in charge of leading the siege against Persia. Alexander approached Asia Minor with an army of 39,600. On the banks of Granicus, 40,000 Persians and 20,000 Greek who opposed Alexander were waiting for him. Once the battle ended, Alexander had only lost 120 troops, while the opposing Greeks only had 2,000 survivors. In the meantime the Persians had all fled. This battle was the first of many come. He would later go on to fight Persia in Asia Minor where surprisingly the opposing Greek put up more of a Resistance than the Persians. Alexander the Great would conquer Egypt, India, and Persia. But, this all ended when Alexander got to Babylon. The cause of death is not certain but the most likely theory is that he died of poison that was put into his drink .

Alexander riding his horse Bucephalus in battle
Cooper's Opinion
I have heard and seen the many great works of Alexander the Great. He was a great military leader and conquered many lands. I mourn for the loss of this great leader who fought in the front lines with his famous horse Bucephalus. I am shocked that someone that amazing was most likely assassinated.
