The Clouds, a new comedy play by Aristophanes, is now in Trojan theaters. It was won third prize in the drama festival held in the City Dionysia in 423 BC.
This play is about a family in debt. Strepsiades, the father tries to persuade his son Pheidippides, an athletic, outdoorsy guy, into going to the Thinkery to learn how to debate and get the family out of trouble. His son does not like the idea and rejects his father's request. So Strepsiades decides to enroll himself in the Thinkery, which is a school for nerds and intellectual bums. While there, he hears about Socrates and ends up meeting with him. Socrates says that he can not teach an old man and says he wants someone younger. So this time Strepsiades is able to persuade his son to attend the school. Then they go to the future where Pheidippides finally gets out of school and is a very changed man. He is now pale and very smart. He manages to get the family out of there debt and the whole family rejoices and has a celebration. Admission is very cheap,so there no reason why you shouldn't come Men, women and children are welcomed but sorry ladies only men can act.
This play is playing in theaters all over Troy so get to the theater closest to you quick or this play will be sold out.

Festival of Dionysia
Each year, playwrights compete in the drama festival in the City of Dionysia, which last three or four days. It is a great honour for the playwright and the producer if the play wins at the Dionysus Festival. The writer wins a prize and the play could be performed in Athens. The writers and the actors are all men, women are not allowed on the stage.
The festival attracts thousands of people. The admission is not expensive so almost anyone can watch the performances. The audience has a lot of influence over the judges deciding the winners at the festival. If people do not like the play they might yell, throw food or bang on the benches they were sitting on. Sometimes writers might even give small gifts to put their audience in a good mood.
