Parthenon
When you visit Athens you have to go to the Acropolis. It is the most
recognizable monument in the world. Acropolis contains many different
building including the Parthenon, the erechtheion, and the Propylaia. The
Acropolis was built in the golden age but later burned in the Persian war. Once
the war was over the Greek's set to rebuild the city. Throughout the
Hellenistic and Macedonian period it was being built and ended up also being a
chapel. In the middle ages the Acropolis was used as a military defense
fortification. Athens is located in the prefecture of Attica and the peninsula of enteral
Greece. its surrounded by many Greek mountains and the climate is one of the best
in Europe.
If you've already gone to the Acropolis then the next best thing to visit
would be Olympia. This is a very important town where the Olympic games were held
in honour of Zeus, the greatest Greek god. One of the best sights in Olympia
is the stadium were the Olympic games were held. This amazing stadium can
hold fifty thousand viewers.
Whenever you are in Crete you should visit the ruins of Lato. They're in the
town of Agios, a famous archaeological location. It was named after
the mother of Apollo, Leto, and Artemis. A thriving
city with an amazing view of the gulf of Maribello.
many people also love to travel to Corinth because it was a thriving port, vital city,
and had lots of religious significance. It was a very wealthy city because of its trade.
it had a diolkos which was a machine which could haul ships. As the city became more
popular it started having an annual sports competition the Isthmian Games it was popular
but was nothing compared to the Olympics. Over the years natural disasters and wars have
wrecked the city but overall it is still standing.
Cooper's Opinion
I like to travel places and write. This year I went to Athens where I went to Acropolis where I was amazed to see so many monuments that stunned me. I really liked it but I only recommend you to go there once in your lifetime. I really enjoyed learning about the goddess Athena too.
Since I do write the sports area I am in Olympia right now on site to bring live feedback to the Trojan Times. The first time I came here I saw the enormous 13 metre tall statue of Zeus, which amazed me with awe. I also watch the sporting events in that even bigger arena which is very entertaining. I definitely recommend this trip during the Olympics every 4 years.
I've never been to the ruins of Lato but I've heard that it is very intriguing and educational trip for anybody. I do plan to go there some time in my life, but for now I'll just be writing for the Trojan Times.
